Medical Missions

Operation Smile will conduct a medical mission in Roxas City, Philippines, in conjunction with the U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy. The team of 40 international medical volunteers from more than seven countries will provide free reconstructive surgery to 200 patients in need.

Since beginning programs in the Philippines in 1982, Operation Smile has conducted more than 300 medical missions, including multi-site medical missions at six sites across the country in June 2014 and five sites across the country in June 2015. Operation Smile’s goal with its programs in the Philippines is to not only focus on its ability to treat cleft lip and cleft palate, but also to increase the surgical capacity of the country overall by deploying surgical programs, supplies and hosting education and training programs.
