From June 9 through 11, Operation Smile conducted a local medical mission in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. During the medical mission, 77 people received patient assessments and 35 received surgery.

Since 1999, Operation Smile has conducted medical programs in the cities of Cochobamba and Santa Cruz, where patients from the capital city of La Paz can access Operation Smile’s cleft lip and cleft palate services.

In addition to providing free surgical care in Bolivia, Operation Smile offers ongoing speech therapy, dentistry, and psychology in the Santa Cruz offices, and provides free consultations to around 300 patients per month.

Operation Smile's global volunteer network includes more than 80 volunteers from Bolivia, who donate their time in Bolivia and all over the world. In the past 16 years, Operation Smile has treated more than 2,900 patients in Bolivia with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities.
