Medical Missions

Operation Smile will conduct a medical mission in Subic Bay, Philippines, in conjunction with the U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy. The team of about 38 international medical volunteers from more than eight countries plan to provide free reconstructive surgery to 150 patients in the Philippines.

Since beginning programs in the Philippines in 1982, Operation Smile has conducted more than 300 medical missions, including multi-site medical missions at six sites across the country in June 2014 and five sites across the country in June 2015. During the multi-site medical mission in 2014, Operation Smile provided surgical care to more than 750 children. Operation Smile’s goal with its programs in the Philippines is to not only focus on its ability to treat cleft lip and cleft palate but also to increase the surgical capacity of the country overall.
