Abhishek Sengupta, MBA, M.Sc.
Regional Associate Vice President, Asia
With two decades of experience with the organization, Abhishek Sengupta is the associate vice president for Asia and the executive director in India for Operation Smile. In this role, he works closely with partner foundations and local teams to ensure high quality care is provided in the region, while building and support long-term strategies to expand medical education and care in communities across Asia and India.
Sengupta first joined Operation Smile as a college student when he was 19 years old. His roles through the years have grown substantially, beginning as program coordinator and then taking on roles as program managers and now executive director. As Sengupta explains: “After volunteering as a local translator in 2004 in Bolpur, India I was hooked. That experience changed my entire life,” he says. “I decided to dedicate my life in helping those in need and becoming an expert in international development with focus on global health.”
Sengupta holds two master’s degrees, from the London School of Economics and from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai. He currently resides in New Delhi, India.
