Fouzia Jbara Mahmoudi

After more than 25 years of working with Operation Smile, Fouzia Jbara Mahmoudi was recently named senior regional vice president for the Middle East and North Africa. Mahmoudi works with the global operations and international programs teams to develop multi-year plans and budgets for all countries in the region, including programmatic, fundraising and operating goals. She is also co-founder and vice president of Operation Smile Morocco. 

Her work with organization began as a volunteer in Morocco in 1999, when she was a vice president at Citibank, where she worked from 1983 to 2007. After helping establish Operation Smile Morocco, Mahmoudi built a large team of local volunteers and employees, which led to Operation Smile Morocco become a leading resource for delivering healthcare, increasing surgical capacity and impacting national health systems where health equity is a challenge. Under her leadership, more than 13,420 children have received free reconstructive surgery and over 100,000 have benefited from oral health care in this region. In the Middle East and Africa region, Operation Smile has helped more than 143,300 patients to receive life-changing cleft surgeries, oral health care and comprehensive cleft care since their inception. 

A life-long resident of Morocco, Mahmoudi currently lives in Casablanca.
