Policy Orientated Partnerships

Operation Smile works collaboratively to implement national and international policies that help increase equitable access to care.

Coalition to Address the Burden of Congenital Conditions

Working closely with the WHO’s Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing, Operation Smile is joining forces with the following organizations to increase care for patients with congenital conditions: Global Arch, Children’s HeartLink, JHPIEGO, Miracle Feet and the International Federation on Spina Bifida.

Educational Partnerships

These are just a few of the organizations Operation Smile is working with around the globe to help train, educate and accredit health care professionals.

Building a Network of Care for Sub-Saharan Africa with COSECSA

Since 2021, Operation Smile, in partnership with the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA), offers surgical training and an internationally recognized surgical qualification. The surgical training program consists of in-service training, mandatory courses and e-learning. In 2023, Operation Smile and COSECSA signed a second activity agreement, which will fund the training of 16 plastic surgeons in sub-Saharan Africa over the next five years.

Thanks to our partnership with the COSECSA, the largest surgical training institution in sub-Saharan Africa, we have increased the number of plastic surgeons in Rwanda from two to five, significantly expanding access to essential plastic surgery services.
