Partnership to Support Operation Smile

MSC has proudly partnered with Operation Smile since 2011, giving hope to children born with cleft lip and cleft palate. Like MSC, Operation Smile values global strength and the importance of partners. We are proud to support Operation Smile’s dedication to children and families in need of safe surgery and comprehensive care in more than 30 countries.

A cleft condition can create severe health issues for a child if it's not treated. It's common for babies to have difficulty with feeding, which can lead to malnutrition or even starvation. Recurring ear infections can occur, which can lead to hearing loss. Jaw and dental development can also be affected. For people with cleft conditions, especially those with cleft palate, speech and language development can also be hindered. Children may also suffer from bullying and social isolation.

But for too many patients and families living in resource-limited settings, the surgery and care they need remains out of reach.

Operation Smile is committed to providing patients with health that lasts through life-saving cleft surgeries and comprehensive care, helping them to better breathe, eat, speak and live lives of greater quality and confidence.

Through MSC USA and the extended family of MSC ports, agents, vendors, and clients, we support Operation Smile and its medical volunteers who are changing lives. Patients receive free, safe and effective surgical care and essential treatments including speech therapy, nutritional support, dentistry, orthodontics, psychosocial care and more. The MSC family is honored to unite the maritime industry in recognition of Operation Smile and its life-changing work.
